8/17/10 - 8/18/10 Overnight approximately 12 unlocked vehicles were entered on Linwood St, Oak La, 15th St and Haldeman Ave.  Items such as clothing, GPS, and money stolen from within.  Police suggest that residents lock their vehicles and not leave valuables in plain view.

8/13/10 at approximately 1100 hours items were discovered in a trash receptacle in the 200 blk of Bailey Street that resembled explosive devices. Police responded and closed off the immediate area to vehicular and foot traffic. Residents were informed of the incident and urged to leave the area until it was brought to a conclusion. Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Hazardous Device and Explosives Section responded to the scene and determined the devices were simulated explosive devices used for training purposes. Through investigation, the New Cumberland Police Department determined the resident, who discarded the items, is a retired military explosives trainer. The resident advised the items were his own personal training aids that did not belong to the military. The immediate area was closed for approximately 1.5 hours. There are no criminal charges pending at this time.
